Pariah!

Don't turn your cyclist into an Outcast!

Persona non grata!  Pariah!

One of the best things about this bike ride is the camaraderie that develops among the cyclists while they spend long hours on the road together. They swap stories of previous bike rides, welcome the newcomer for having the courage to try this long ride and just have a good time while riding for a good cause. This is the kind of event where lifetime friendships are made.

One of the worst things about this bike ride - people who block the road driving 12 mph following a cyclist. None of the other cyclists want to breathe their exhaust. The cyclists have enough of a challenge, they don't want to have to struggle to get around slow moving vehicles. And the supply trucks and support vehicles can't do their jobs.

It only takes a moment for the cyclists to figure out who it is that you are following. They won't want to ride with your cyclist. Your cyclist won't be seen as taking part in the same challenge of riding their bicycle to the beach. The other riders won't think that they have struggled together with your cyclist. The person you think you are supporting will be excluded from some of the best times to be had on this ride - the bonding with fellow riders.

If you want to show your support for your cyclist, yell and scream for ALL of the cyclists at the finish line.

Avoid the bike route.
